SITE ART GALLERY | INTERNAL WALL ART - LAUNCH NIGHT
We lead a design team that consisted of 5 final year degree students and a group of helpers who were brought in to assist with the project. Collectively we produced the backdrop that covered the back wall of the exhibition, on the theme of castles in the sky. The ideas expressed in the piece suggest what success and achievement signifies.
The composition containing the focal beanstalk section is designed to convey a journey of reaching the top, like most fairy tales the message is clear, - anything is possible.LJMU lecturer John Byrne, who managed Site, said: "We don't want to use Site as a traditional art space. We want to test out new ways of working and new relationships between local and international artists, and between staff and students." John also extended special thanks to the help of (CHIMP CREATIVE) Gareth Shuttleworth, John wood and the LJMU team who helped stage the first exhibition.
1,000 people visited LJMU's new art gallery, Site, in the Albert Dock in the first two days it was opened to the public. Site not only represents a new international art space in Liverpool, it marks the beginning of a series of initiatives, collaborations and partnerships that will build towards the opening of Liverpool's new Art and Design Academy.
